The success of Genco Services, Inc. (GIS) can be attributed to the extensive experience of its founder Murray Meggison. Murray started in the oilfield industry in 1980 with Fesco, Inc. and worked in the McAllen office until 1985.

At that time, he decided to leave Fesco to team up with a partner, Chris Klement and start Tri-Tech Petroleum Engineering. Tri-Tech was operational until it was sold in 1992 to Well Solutions where Murray stayed through 1994. Dawson Well Service then acquired Well Solutions where Murray remained until 1996.

That was the year that GIS got started. On June 16,1996 Murray founded Genco Services, Inc. and has been servicing the rental equipment needs of the oil business ever since. Purchased in 1978 by Joe LaMantia Jr., L&F Distributors began as family business with a single location in McAllen, TX and less than 20 employees. Being an Anheuser- Busch wholesaler, L&F focused on mega-brands such as Budweiser, Bud Light and Michelob. As the brands and the distributorship grew, L&F acquired the rights to the surrounding counties including the cities of Harlingen, Alice and Laredo. With the acquisition of the Laredo distributorship, L&F became the primary beer distributor along the South Texas border with Mexico.

In 2001 L&F expanded to Corpus Christi and in 2008 L&F acquired Desert Eagle Distributing, which moved us into El Paso, TX and Roswell, NM. With the addition of El Paso, L&F became the premier beer distributor along the Texas and Mexican border.

Today, L&F has eight distribution centers which service 35 counties throughout Texas and Southern New Mexico, and currently has more than 1,000 employees. As the company expanded, so did our portfolio. We went from distributing primarily Anheuser- Busch products, to distributing more than 100 different American craft and import beers, as well as adding water, milk and energy drinks to our portfolio. It all began in 1950 when hunting and fishing enthusiast C. R. 'Dutch' Youker opened a small sporting goods store at Monroe and First Street in downtown Harlingen, Texas. It didn't take long for the business aspect to overwhelm the fun aspect of hunting and fishing for "Dutch" and he soon passed the little store to his son and daughter-in-law R.D. 'Bob' and Betty Youker. From 1951 until 1986 The Sportsman grew to locations in McAllen and San Benito in addition to the main location in Harlingen.

In 1952 Bob decided to sell boats and Evinrude outboard motors from the San Benito location. In addition to a popular wood hull boat called the 'Yellow Jacket', he became the number three dealer to handle a new boat called 'Glastron'. This up and coming boat manufacturer was on the cutting edge of using a new material called 'fiberglass'. Glastron Boat Company eventually became an international boat builder.

The third generation of Youkers joined the company in 1972. After graduating from The University of Texas in Austin with a marketing degree, C. R. 'Rob' Youker took over the helm at the San Benito location. The success of the company has been based on the core principals of trust, quality, credibility and integrity in the pursuit of excellence in customer service. The Sportsman has been recognized by Boating Industry magazine as one of the top 100 marine dealerships in North America. Even more impressive, The Sportsman is one of only a handful of dealerships in North America that has been selected 9 consecutive years and is the only exclusive shallow water boating specialist among the Top 100.
